Ownership & leaving
Who owns what, and what happens if you cancel.
- Do I own my writing?
- Yes, entirely. You grant us only the limited license needed to store, display, print and mail your content on your behalf. We never claim rights to your work and never use it to train AI models.
- Do I own my subscribers?
- Yes. Your subscriber list, their addresses and their billing relationship belong to you. You can export every record at any time, and reader payments go to your own payment account, not ours.
- Do you take royalties or a cut of my revenue?
- No royalties, and no permanent revenue share. You pay a software subscription and the disclosed cost of printing and postage for each run. Any per-transaction fee is shown on the pricing page and in your dashboard before you're charged.
- Can I cancel? What happens to my customers if I leave?
- You can cancel from your settings page at any time. Because readers pay into your own payment account, their subscriptions keep running there even after you leave. We give you a complete export of subscribers, addresses, issues and financial records so you can continue elsewhere.
Billing & payments
How readers are charged, how dates line up, and what happens when a card fails.
- How do monthly billing and mailing dates work?
- Readers are billed on the anniversary of the day they subscribed. Issues mail on your schedule. Our entitlement rules make sure anyone paid through the cutoff receives the issue — a renewal date that differs from the mail date never causes a missed copy, and duplicate payment events never cause a duplicate copy.
- What happens when a reader's payment fails?
- Their card is retried automatically and they get an email to update it. Until they're paid through the next cutoff, they're excluded from the mailing list and shown in your dashboard as 'needs payment', so you're never paying to print copies for lapsed subscribers.
Printing & postage
Who prints, what postage costs, minimums and proofs.
- How much does postage cost?
- It depends on the format (folded, stapled booklet, flat letter), weight and the mail class your run qualifies for. Before you approve any run you see the exact quoted print and postage total. We never charge postage you haven't approved.
- Is there a subscriber minimum?
- No. The providers we integrate with print and mail single pieces. Some USPS discounts (Marketing Mail) require at least 200 pieces, and the quote reflects whatever class your run qualifies for.
- Can I order a proof?
- Where the provider supports proofs you can order one from the issue page before approving the run. Where they don't, we show a print preview and tell you that it's a screen rendering, not a press proof.
Subscribers & addresses
Address changes, cutoffs and who receives each issue.
- Can readers change their address?
- Yes, from their own subscriber page, without emailing you. Changes made before the issue's cutoff apply to that issue; changes after cutoff apply to the next one, and the portal says so clearly.
Writing & publishing
PDF upload, the editor and digital copies.
- Can I upload my own PDF?
- Yes. Upload a print-ready PDF and we validate page size, page count, fonts and other requirements for your chosen format before it can be approved. Or write in the built-in editor and we lay the issue out for print.
- Can I send digital and printed versions?
- A print-plus-digital plan is on the roadmap. Today every plan is a physical subscription; subscribers can download the PDF of issues they've paid for from their portal when you enable it.
